Hobsonville Community Trust manages two community facilities on behalf of Auckland Council – The Sunderland Lounge and Headquarters Building. These are available for hire everyday, from 7am to 10pm. Both venues can be booked online (72 hrs in advance, or otherwise through our Venues Team). Discounts are available to community groups and events.

The Sunderland Lounge – Te Rere was built in the late 1940s and was initially used as the airbase’s cinema. It is comprised of a large community hall, a community space with a large kitchen, and a new meeting room.
The maximum capacity of the Sunderland Lounge across all hirers/rooms is 374 due to fire safety ratings.

Minimum booking time is 1 hour. Hire can then increase in 15 minute increments.
Online bookings can only be made at least 72 hours in advance. Otherwise bookings need to be made via email ([email protected]) and will only be responded to during office hours. Weekend access is not possible if bookings have not been confirmed by Friday 2.30pm.
All bookings must include time for setup, arrival meet & greet, packdown and cleaning.

There is a discount for not-for-profit community groups of 40%.
Special community events/initiatives that contribute directly to targeted community outcomes may be eligible for additional discounting. This is on a case by case basis.
Alcohol is not allowed for private functions. An exception for limited alcohol however may be made for weddings and special occasions, and for business functions and community events of a suitable nature across either venue. This is subject to the hirer meeting the conditions of hire in relation to alcohol. Details can be found in our Venue Hire Conditions Document.
The Headquarters Building and Sunderland Lounge are located in the heart of Hobsonville Point, just a few minutes walk via the coastal walkway to the beautiful Catalina Bay waterfront complete with a range of cafes, restaurants and markets. The two venues are just 200m apart, linked by a lovely park. The venues share limited dedicated car parking on Cinema Road and a range of free street parking options.
