Over the coming week, we will be contacting those groups that have previously expressed an interest in becoming regular hirers of an ongoing booking time to confirm your interest and final details. We will then work the regular hire matrix through with Auckland Council and invite the approved regular hirers to create their bookings with us.

The hire rates for the Headquarters are now on our website. Our venue hire conditions can be accessed here and will be included with any online booking.

Sunderland Lounge – Te Rere

The refurbishment of the Sunderland Lounge, recently named ‘Te Rere’, is now nearing completion and looks amazing. There is no date yet on its reopening but it’s getting a lot closer. We will update you more on this facility as soon as we can.

Meaning of Te Mahere and Te Rere

  • Te Mahere means to plan, to map, to chart and supports the historical theme of travel. Mahere can be used when talking about mapping a journey but also when planning for something in the future. Te Mahere suits the Headquarters because the building is a space where members of the community can come together, to meet, to learn and ‘plan for’ the future of the community.
  • Te Rere means to move, flow, or go into action which supports the notion of Sunderland Lounge as a ‘doing’ space on a larger scale than that of Headquarters.
