Community Facilities Nearing Completion

The project and facilities teams from Auckland Council are nearing the completion of the new wastewater connection at Headquarters Building and the refurbishment and landscaping of the Sunderland Lounge.

It won’t be long until both facilities are up and running, which is very timely as winter has well and truly upon us and we need warm and welcoming indoor community spaces for all our activities and events! Thank you so much for your patience and continued support during the temporary closure period.

Even though the doors have been closed, the Upper Harbour Local Board have been busy with an Expressions of Interest (EOI) process to find a local community organisation to manage both of these community facilities.

The Upper Harbour Local Board has granted the management contract for operation of its two Auckland Council owned venues, Headquarters and Sunderland Lounge, to the Hobsonville Community Trust  (HCT).
Hobsonville Community Trust will take on the role from 1st July, 2019.  HCT has been running community events at Hobsonville Point since development started here.  At the Upper Harbour Local Board meeting, HCT assured board members that its Christian values and beliefs will not affect how they rent out the facilities, which will be open to all.

During this interim period, if you are interested in booking a space or making an enquiry you can do so via the “Book Facilities” page or by submitting the form found here.
